White Gaze

Midjourney, like many other AI art generators at this moment, is trained on a dataset of mostly Western art. While playing with Midjourney with prompts like '/imagine Chinese painting collage", I noticed the tendency to place women front and center despite that not being part of the prompt at all. I then added the term "futuristic" and started getting a bunch of high rise pagodas. Is this how actual Chinese artists would paint a vision of the future? Or are these depictions symbolic of a white fetishization of Asian culture?
